Recently I watched a film in which the lead actress says “can’t we find a way to friendly disagree?” Research shows that we find disagreeing with someone in the workplace is difficult let alone speaking up. In essence it boils down to a feeling that we are afraid to ruin our relationship if we share our concerns. Most likely, honest and constructive feedback is highly appreciated. However, there is an ‘if’ regarding how the message is deliverd. A calm, respectful tone and having the facts to validate your critism are at the core of delivering effective feedback.
